Cruising on the Rivership Romance in Sanford

Marilyn and Tom in Halloween Photo taken on the boat.

Recently Marilyn and I went on a lunch cruise on the Rivership Romance in Sanford. It was a nice cruise up the St. John's River and the lunch was excellent. The service by the staff on the boat was excellent also. They had a musician playing for dancing and a photographer to take your picture. It was very enjoyable and I would do it again. They also have a boat doing the same type cruises in the Daytona area.

Weekend At Okeechobee KOA

Marilyn and Ingrid relaxing

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

I spent last weekend at the KOA campground in Okeechobee, FL. It was a great weekend sponsored by the Gold Club of Giant Recreation World where I purchased my motorhome. A great time with a well organized event. Everything was provided by GRW for the weekend. We arrived Friday evening and had dinner. The dinner consisted of BBQ Chicken, Baked Potato, Green Beans, Brownies and Beverage. They had a bar set up where you could choose your favorite mixed drink or have a Bud Lite. So we visited the bar after dinner and met and talked with some of the other Gold Clubbers. Then we retired for the night after watching a little TV.

Saturday morning and breakfast time. Breakfast was served with Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Grits, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, Fruit Cup, Assorted Muffins and Beverage. There were many activities going on for the day. With your choice of Golf, Horseshoes, Bocce Ball, Arts & Crafts and several more that you could choose from. Before you knew it, it was lunch time. Lunch was served with the menu being Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Cookies and Beverage.

After lunch we rode our bicycles to a nearby Flea Market where we looked around but couldn't find anything that we just couldn't live without. On the way back to the RV Park Marilyn tried to run me over and ended up crashing and injuring her knee and ankle. As we returned the video crew was shooting at the entrance. They asked us if we would give a testimonial for the event. So we did and I told them it was fantastic and that they should do it more often.

We also toured some of the motorhomes they had on display. We liked the new Bounty Hunter by Gulfstream. It is a complete motorhome/toyhauler. It has a garage in the rear that also has bunk beds. The bed for the main motorhome is upstairs over the garage. It was very nice but has a very nice price also. Maybe in a couple of years there will be some used ones available!!

Then before we knew it, it was time for dinner. We rode up on our bicycles and there was a long line. We had dressed in our western duds for the evenings festivities after dinner. The line was slow at first but then it started moving and moved pretty quickly. The menu for dinner was Rib Eye Steak, Roasted Red Potatoes, Southern Pole Beans, Caesar Salad, Apple Cobbler, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Beverage.

A long line for dinner but it went fast

The after dinner festivities started with Professional DJ and Vocalist Leanne Williams. First we listened to some words from the President of GRW and then a few words from the owner. Then Leanne introduced Country Fried Comedian Johnny Roberts. Johnny is a Florida boy and lives in Kathleen near Lakeland. He was very good and had us LOLROF. I have to speak with him about using a lot of my jokes though. After Johnny Leanne took over and entertained us with dj music and singing. She has a nice voice and we ended up with a couple of her CD's. We danced a couple of times and then went out to try to learn the electric slide. We stayed out for several different group dances. I couldn't quite get the hang of the electric slide. Marilyn did pretty good though.

After the contest for the best dressed we called it a night and went back to watch the Seminoles beat Boston College. Then we turned in for the night.

Sunday morning we prepared for the trip home. Going down the pre-flight checklist to make sure everything is secured for traveling. All in all in was a great time and the best part of it was it didn't cost anything. Thank you GRW.
